The first ride of the year sets the tone, and Oak Hill Crew didn’t ease into 2026 quietly.
On January 1st, 2026, almost the full crew rolled out for a winter ATV run toward the Mouth of Canoose, embracing everything that New Brunswick winter riding throws at you. Snow-covered trails, unpredictable traction, and rapidly changing weather turned this ride into an adventure from the first kilometre.
Winter Riding in New Brunswick: Slipping, Sliding, and Smiling
Winter ATV riding in New Brunswick isn’t about speed, it’s about control, patience, and adapting to constantly changing conditions. Snow-packed trails quickly turned slick, forcing riders to stay alert and pick lines carefully. Momentum mattered, but so did knowing when to back off.
As the ride continued, conditions worsened. Snowfall increased, visibility dropped, and the trail transformed into a true winter challenge. Instead of turning back, the crew leaned into it — because that’s what makes winter riding memorable.
Riding to the Mouth of Canoose
The Mouth of Canoose is a destination that perfectly represents the raw beauty of New Brunswick’s backcountry. Remote, rugged, and surrounded by natural landscape. Sitting there listening to the ice crack as the water moved surrounded by family was a fantastic experience.
We ran into downed trees that we were all regretting not bringing a saw... hatchet away to get enough space to get through. Ice patches that 4 wheel drive, was required to get moving.
Machines That Took on the Conditions
This ride brought together a solid mix of machines, all facing the same conditions:
- Multiple Kawasaki Brute Force 750s
- One Kawasaki 360
- A 2026 Can-Am Outlander XMR
Snow doesn’t care about brand loyalty, and every machine had to work for it. Watching different setups handle the same terrain is part of what makes group rides like this so enjoyable.
Why Winter ATV Riding Hits Different
Winter strips riding down to its basics. There’s less grip, fewer margins for error, and more respect required for both the trail and the machine. But it also delivers something special, the experience of untouched snow, and a sense of adventure that feels earned.
For Oak Hill Crew, this run wasn’t about distance or difficulty. It was about starting the year together, embracing the conditions, and doing what we do best creating fond memories.
