Kicking Things Off
We headed out from Clarence Stream Road with a solid group of 14 riders ready for a proper spring run. Conditions were shaping up exactly how you would expect this time of year, wet, messy, and perfect for a good ride.
The Route
We covered a great stretch of trail on this one:
- Clarence Stream Road
- Elmsville Covered Bridge
- Armstrong Mill
- Devlin Road
- Sorrel Ridge Road Bridge
- Back to Clarence Stream Road
A solid loop with a mix of everything along the way.
Spring Conditions Delivered
It did not take long before the trails started showing what they had in store. Deep mud, water filled ruts, and sections that forced you to slow down and pick your line carefully.
There were a few sticky spots along the way, but nothing the group could not handle. Just part of the fun this time of year.
Deep Into the Ride… Something Strange
Well into the ride, we spotted something hovering low over the area with a massive scanner hanging underneath.
From a distance, it looked like something straight out of a movie. Definitely had a few of us thinking UFO at first.
Turns out it was a mining company scanning for minerals, but you will see why it caught everyone’s attention.
A Little Tip Over
At one point, there was a minor tip over going up a steep bank. No injuries, just one of those moments that happens when the trails are soft and unpredictable.
Of course, it gave everyone a good laugh and kept the ride interesting.
Good to See the Trails Busy
We also ran into three other groups of riders throughout the day. Always great to see people out enjoying the trails and making the most of the season.
Wrapping It Up
With 14 riders, muddy conditions, water crossings, and even a surprise in the sky, this ride had a bit of everything.
That is what these rides are all about. Good people, helping each other out, and making the most of every moment on the trail.
If this is how the season is shaping up, we are in for a great year.
